My Lords, this subject has been covered more than once in previous stages of the Bill. I recall the Minister saying: "““We expect the income-related strand of employment and support allowance to offer access to the same benefits that have already been discussed as income support currently does””.—[Official Report, 1/3/07; col. GC 266.]"
If the Government can change the expectation to an affirmation that they will offer the same access to the same benefits as are available to people on income support, I am sure that the noble Baroness, Lady Thomas, will be more than happy to withdraw her amendment.
