Perhaps I might give the noble Baroness some thinking time. I understand that under the existing regime many ME sufferers have had their benefits withdrawn under certain circumstances. However, in response to the noble Baroness’s speech, I do not think that I have ever heard a Minister being quite so definite and then, subsequently, being quite so confusing—to me, anyway. I hope that I got her words down correctly but she started with the remark that there was no question—she was very firm about that—of the customer being required to undertake any activity.
