Welfare Reform Bill

This has been an interesting debate which has gone quite wide of the wording of the amendment, and has probably been none the worse for that. I should have mentioned in my opening remarks that the amendment of the noble Lord, Lord Skelmersdale, probably encapsulated the primary thrust of my speech rather better than the one I spoke to. However, that is by the by. My main point is about trying to ensure best practice. If the Minister could give me an example of how best practice is being disseminated among the support groups on this issue and models of it in other places, many of my concerns about the implementation of the process would be addressed. If he could give me an idea of the ongoing process of how it is being done, such as the database and the contacts that will be needed in this and other fields, that would be very helpful. Having said that—and I have the impression that we have touched on matters that might be raised in the next group of amendments—I intend to withdraw the amendment.
