Human Rights

Proceeding contribution from Lord Beith (Liberal Democrat) in the House of Commons on Monday, 19 February 2007. It occurred during Adjournment debate on Human Rights.
Could the hon. Gentleman explain how that would change the situation? The omission of a right from the new Bill of Rights that he proposes would in no way preclude someone taking legal action in the European Court of Human Rights because we remain subscribers to the convention—or is he suggesting that we withdraw from the convention entirely?
