I, too, am grateful to the Financial Secretary for his generosity in accepting interventions. However, he was unable to give my hon. Friend the Member for Ludlow (Mr. Dunne) an example of a Government policy that was announced as a result of access to statistics prior to their release. He prayed in aid the Treasury Committee report, which recommends that"““ministers receive pre-release access on the day prior to release, after the markets have closed””."
We are therefore discussing limited pre-release access, and not the 40 hours allowed under the Bill.
