Again, I am grateful for the opportunity to highlight the fact that public debt is nudging the levels that the European Union allows. If the Government had not changed the figures—thankfully we will in due course have an independent body to stop them doing so—we would have broken both the EU rules and the Government’s own borrowing rules.
