In his excellent remarks, my hon. Friend might care to note that the report by the hon. Member for City of York (Hugh Bayley), ““The Other Side of the Coin””, deals specifically with the role of DFID in this context. Under my hon. Friend’s proposal, a resolution could be approved by Parliament; it could also be disapproved. That is where the problem lies. The report states:"““DFID must not turn a blind eye to corruption””."
I have no doubt that we shall continue this discussion, but that is what is stated in this report, which was produced by a Labour Member of Parliament, the Chairman of a very distinguished group whose importance the Minister has acknowledged.
