Pensions Reform

Proceeding contribution from Edward Leigh (Conservative) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 25 May 2006. It occurred during Ministerial statement on Pensions Reform.
It is easy for politicians to make promises today that have to be paid for by electors tomorrow. Does the Secretary of State think that it is important that the younger generation are reminded about how much these proposals will cost? Assuming that they are introduced in 2012, what will be the cumulative cost of the restoration of the earnings link in its first 50 years of operation?
