I thank the Minister for her reply, which I took to be generally supportive of what I am trying to achieve. Since she invited me to do so, perhaps I may ask her about the issue. She said that the review is due to conclude at the end of this year. When are the outcomes of that review likely to be made known? Will a timetable for any new GOS be published? It would be helpful to have an explicit understanding of what the Government consider will be in the contract for general ophthalmic services, not least because, given the general state of upheaval in the NHS, it would be helpful to have on record exactly what PCTs are supposed to be providing and where.
