Do health visitors still do rudimentary eye tests on small children? Is that part of their casework? I am concerned because one or two of my colleagues, who knew that we were going to discus this matter, have told me about their grandchildren arriving at school with undetected squints that have had to be corrected by the use of patches. It is a very long time since I was subjected to a rudimentary eye test by a health visitor, but I still remember doing it. Are such tests still part of our routine work with small children?
