moved Amendment No. 72:"Page 19, line 11, after ““body”” insert ““specified, or””"
The noble Baroness said: This is a technical amendment. Clause 19 gives the accountable officer of a designated body a power of entry and inspection for the purposes of securing the safe, appropriate and effective management and use of controlled drugs. Subsection (5), however, aims to ensure that through directions the Secretary of State can prevent the accountable officer of a particular designated body from having that power of entry. This might be used where concerns have been raised about the practice of a specific accountable officer. As currently drafted, any directions could specify only a description of a designated body rather than an individual body. They could, for example, specify PCTs in general but not a named PCT. This minor amendment is therefore proposed to ensure that this power can be targeted at specific designated bodies as well as more general descriptions of designated bodies. I beg to move.
