Company Law Reform Bill [HL]

Proceeding contribution from Lord Goldsmith (Labour) in the House of Lords on Tuesday, 9 May 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Company Law Reform Bill [HL].
moved Amendment No. 128:"Page 434, line 5, after ““if”” insert ““, not being the registered holder,””" The noble and learned Lord said: My Lords, in moving this amendment, I shall speak also to Amendments Nos. 129 and 130. Schedule 1 explains what is meant by an interest in shares or debentures, where that phrase is used in the definition of persons connected with a director. Amendment No. 128 puts back some words which appear in the equivalent provisions of Schedule 13 of the Companies Act 1985. Amendment No. 129 replaces a reference to ““the relevant proportion”” in paragraph 5 of the schedule with a clearer explanation of what it means, and is in line with the position under the Companies Act 1985. Amendment No. 130 updates the legislation listed in paragraph 6 of the schedule. I beg to move. On Question, amendment agreed to.
