My Lords, now that the House has taken a vote on Amendment No. 78, we believe that Amendment No. 79 is the right way forward. Doubtless there is a certain wry humour in the fact that the Attorney-General has heard one side of the argument for Amendment No. 78 and has now heard the other side of the compromise in the debate on Amendments Nos. 79A to 86. But we believe that the Government’s amendment is the right way forward. The Attorney-General has explained the improvements, which we accept have been made. We will all reflect further on what has been said in this brief debate, and the Attorney-General will not be surprised to learn that I am very much in favour of Amendment No. 87.
