I do not have the figures to hand, but as is the case with the Irish Government, this Government have adopted a responsible attitude on behalf of public health by setting out the arguments why it is in people’s interests to give up smoking. We have been consistent in that. The tax on cigarettes is aimed at deterring people from smoking, not at raising revenue.
