Health Bill

I do not think they are vague statements. I would hope that sports stadiums will be covered by the regulations; that our regulations will be absolutely clear and the provisions of the Bill will apply to them. An increasing number of football stadiums are going smoke-free. We had a brief debate on this when we were previously in Committee. I have a growing list of stadiums which have announced that they are going smoke free this year, have already done so or will be doing so later on. As I am accused by the noble Lord, Lord Naseby, of not being accurate enough, perhaps he would like to take the opportunity to correct a misleading impression he gave to the Committee when we met last. There was an exchange between the noble Lord and my noble friend Lord Warner on the declaration of interests. It was prompted, I think, by an attack by the noble Lord, Lord Naseby, on my noble friend Lord Rosser and his trade union background. The noble Lord, Lord Naseby, was asked by my noble friend:"““Has the noble Lord declared his interest of having accepted hospitality from the tobacco manufacturers’ industry?””." The noble Lord, Lord Naseby, replied:"““Yes, the noble Lord can look at the Register of Members’ Interests””." My noble friend Lord Warner asked:"““Did he declare it in this Committee?””." The noble Lord, Lord Naseby, replied:"““It is in the Register of Members’ Interests. I declared it at Second Reading””.—[Official Report, 24/4/06; col. GC 43.]" I have read every word of the noble Lord’s speech at Second Reading and the opening words of that are,"““My Lords, I have no interests to declare in this Bill””.—[Official Report, 1/3/06; col. 298.]" This might be an opportunity for the noble Lord to correct that. He also said in that same exchange—
