Health Bill

Proceeding contribution from Lord Naseby (Conservative) in the House of Lords on Thursday, 20 April 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills and Committee proceeding on Health Bill.
I support the noble Lord, Lord Monson. We need to know what an extended period of time is. If it is a matter of days, that is highly relevant. If it is a matter of hours, that is equally relevant. What I am seeking to get from this Bill and this particular amendment is a sensible arrangement. It is not out of the ordinary today for job sharing to take place. A lot of people job share. One person may work Mondays and Tuesdays and the other person works Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. If that extended time is only for X number of hours, it does not matter. On the other hand, if it lasts for days in a manner that is harmful, as opposed to just being around, I understand that point. I would be grateful if the Minister could clarify that.
