In this lull in the proceedings, I thought that I should get up rather quickly. First, I again apologise to the noble Lord, Lord Naseby, for not getting the letter to him earlier. I signed it yesterday—it is here and I will pass it across. I am not sure that it will help him a great deal in our deliberations, but I again apologise that other issues slowed down my response to him.
I am grateful for the advice of the noble Lord, Lord Wakeham, aided and abetted by the noble Lord, Lord Brooke, on how to conduct myself. The noble Lord mentioned Barbara Castle. One piece of advice that Barbara Castle gave me was never to take much notice of advice given to you by the Opposition.
