National Lottery Bill

No, this is a Big Lottery decision. The Government take pride in their development strategy, which is on a vastly more significant scale than the projects that we are identifying here. Sixty million pounds is a modest amount compared with government investment, but carefully directed to specific projects, reflective of the commitment of the British people to help in particular areas of need, it is valuable. In addition, on the basis of accuracy I should indicate to the noble Viscount, Lord Astor, that the £60 million is also supplemented by £12 million, which will be available specifically for projects to help communities affected by the tsunami. I indicated that I was not going to engage in statistics at this late hour this evening. The noble Viscount is entitled to completely accurate figures and I will ensure that he receives them.
