Company Law Bill [HL]

moved Amendment No. A133A:"Page 294, line 19, after ““shares”” insert ““, otherwise than by virtue of having an interest under a trust,””" The noble Lord said: This is a probing amendment concerning Clause 608, ““Interest in shares: general””. The clause is almost identical to existing Section 208 of the Companies Act 1985, but the words:"““otherwise than by virtue of having an interest under a trust””," in subsection (5) of that section have been omitted. We seek to reinsert them here, to give the Minister a chance to tell us the reasons for this change, and put the purpose of its effect on the record. I beg to move.
