moved Amendment No. A132:"Page 293, line 26, after ““keep”” insert ““and make available for public inspection””"
The noble Lord said: This concerns a duty on a company when it ceases to be a public company. We seek to amend subsection (1). The amendment clarifies the position so that not only must companies keep the register as required by Clause 599, they must also make it available for public inspection. There seems little point in keeping a register that is not available for public inspection. I hope that the Minister will understand the importance of clarity in this area, and the value of this facility, particularly since a criminal offence is committed if the requirements are breached. Therefore, I beg to move.
