My Lords, I endorse what my noble friend said. Anyone who has used a points system—many of us have in different contexts—knows that they can produce hugely helpful results, but also distortions and unfairness as different human beings operate the same system in different ways and places. It seems extremely important that it be possible to look at the system after not too long; three years may well be the right time. My noble friend has suggested the aspects that should be looked at, and I am encouraged by what she said to think that the Minister may accept the amendment. That would be wonderful. The universities would be pleased if that happened. I hope that we hear that the amendment will be accepted.
