Company Law Reform Bill [HL]

moved Amendment No. 334A:"Page 244, line 8, at end insert ““and a statement of reasons as required by section 509(4)””" The noble Baroness said: Amendment No. 334A seeks to amend Clause 510, which deals with the information to be given to accounting authorities by the appropriate audit authority in connection with auditor resignations. Under Clause 509(4), when an auditor resigns and says that there are no circumstances to be drawn to the attention of members or creditors, a statement of the reasons for the resignation has to be given to the appropriate authority. The amendment requires that the same statement should go also to the accounting authorities. Will the Minister confirm that there has been a drafting error or explain the rationale for partial information being sent to the accounting authorities? I beg to move.
