If I were able to see the reply, I could make a fair judgment on the Minister’s political future. In an earlier intervention, I deliberately asked the Minister whether he agrees with the principle that there should be as much transparency as possible from Her Majesty’s Treasury with particular regard to our financial relationships with the EU. He favours transparency and wants to give us the information, so will he seek inspiration quickly and let hon. Members know the ratio of debt to GDP including off-balance-sheet liabilities? In the circumstances, the only answer that I will not allow him is that he will write to me.
