Natural Environment and Rural Communities Bill

This is a very interesting topic, but it would be difficult to go into it in great detail at this time of night. I wonder whether most of the national parks of Britain are not forms of biosphere. So far as I can see, they are concerned with integrating people with the landscape and, with luck, with sustainable development. We have a particularly individualistic definition of national parks in this country. The major items looked at are recreation and access, whereas the international definition of national parks is something very different, concerned mainly with preserving nature and natural conditions. However, the noble Baroness has raised an interesting issue and I hope that we shall hear more about it.
