Health Bill

Proceeding contribution from Kevin Barron (Labour) in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 14 February 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Health Bill.
Indeed. I shall come to that, if I do not have to take any further interventions. I am keen to finish my speech because others want to speak. Labour Members gave a pledge in our manifesto about what we would and would not exempt. As an MP for more than 20 years, I have always taken manifesto commitments extremely seriously and I still do, but we must consider the matter logically and ask whether it would be practical to apply an exemption. The answer is no. It is not practical in respect of pubs that do not serve food or in respect of clubs.
