Identity Cards Bill

Proceeding contribution from Adrian Bailey (Labour) in the House of Commons on Monday, 13 February 2006. It occurred during Debate on bills on Identity Cards Bill.
I have been listening to the right hon. Gentleman’s argument and he makes the point about the alleged unreliability of Home Office IT projects. Would he not agree that in fact the process being outlined for what is effectively an evolutionary process for putting data on a database is the proper and valid way to proceed in order to ensure that all procedures are tried and tested before we have the debate on compulsory registration, and that these processes can inform that debate? Should he not therefore be supporting the Government?
