The noble Lord said: In moving Amendment No. 222, I shall speak also to Amendment No. 239. I put this in the form of a probing amendment; almost a suggestion to the Government. When you read the Bill, there is a uniform approach to companies large and small. Amendment No. 239 defines a public interest company, which is clearly a company formed not for profit. I would have thought that certain exemptions should be provided in the Bill. Although the Bill approaches private and public companies separately, I am probing to identify whether there is any sympathy on the part of the Government for looking in a slightly different light and a slightly more relaxed way at public interest or mutual interest companies. I beg to move.
