I am grateful to the Minister. This is a probing amendment to try to discern the gravity of what we had on subsection (4). Once Ministers start referring to the Data Protection Act or the ECHR, one usually knows one is in deep trouble. It is a bourne from which no traveller returns.
I am still not clear as to the exact meaning of ““stock””. It may be an old term but we were trying to elucidate the underlying purpose here. I understood what ““shares”” and ““convertible stock”” meant, but not what ““stock”” meant when it stood on its own. When I talked to company law experts, they were not always clear about what it meant. If the Minister has a note, it would be helpful if he could put something on the record now.
