Compensation Bill [HL]

I am grateful to the Minister for what she has said. Looking back on the many sittings of this Committee, I thank the noble Baroness for the many commitments that she has given. We have been greatly reassured by the way in which she has set about dealing with some longstanding problems with the urgency that the situation requires. This will be my last chance to say anything, so I thank the Minister and her very impressive team for all the answers that they have given to the various points we have raised. I also thank my noble friend, the noble Baroness, Lady Thomas of Walliswood, and the other Members who have participated. I believe that we are united by a concern, first, to get Clause 1 right—we will return to that at a later stage—but probably mostly by a concern about the present situation of claims management companies and a determination to see action taken. We greatly welcome the initiative that the Government have taken in bringing forward this legislation, which gives us an unrivalled opportunity to legislate in this key area. I also thank the Chairman, the Clerk, particularly the Hansard reporters, the attendants and all those who have greatly assisted us in our work. So far as Amendment No. 104 is concerned, I beg leave to withdraw the amendment. Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. [Amendments Nos. 105 to 105A not moved.] Schedule, as amended, agreed to. [Amendment No. 106 not moved.] Title agreed to. Bill reported with amendments.
