Electoral Administration Bill

We shall consider both the information that electoral registration officers use and information that they might not currently have the power to use but which, we believe, they need. Those points are already well understood. We are determined to ensure that everyone who is entitled to vote is on the register. Whether we call it ““maximising”” the register or having a complete register is simply a matter of words, but I agree with the spirit of my hon. Friend’s amendments, which is embodied in the Bill, that no one who is eligible should be denied the right to vote. Everyone who is eligible should be able to vote by being on the electoral register. Our debate has been useful as well as lengthy and we have considered the matter widely. There is a large measure of agreement, but I ask hon. Members not to press their amendments.
