My Lords, in the first of the two notable maiden speeches that we have heard today, the noble Lord, Lord Foulkes, said that there were enormous misunderstandings about the Bill. We have heard a great many of them in the speeches so far, not least in the one to which we have just listened from the noble Baroness, Lady Flather. She believes—at the same time, apparently—that it is a piddling little effort but that it will also seriously undermine our ability to conduct rational discussions about religious matters. I do not see how you can hold that both of these things are true.
