Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, if he will comment on the practice of consumers in Scotland purchasing raw unpasteurised milk for drinking which originated from outlets in England.

Answer

Mr. Connarty: To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the practice of consumers in Scotland purchasing raw unpasteurised milk for drinking which originated from outlets in England. [24738] Mr. Galbraith: The Dairy Products (Hygiene) (Scotland) Regulations 1995 prohibit the sale in Scotland of unpasteurised cows' milk for drinking. They do not prevent consumers purchasing, for their own use, raw cows' drinking milk in England and returning with it to Scotland.
