Question

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what measures his Department is taking to encourage young people to enter the farming profession with particular reference to hill farming.

Mr. Levitt: To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what measures his Department is taking to encourage young people to enter the farming profession with particular reference to hill farming. [20370] Mr. Morley: I refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave to our hon. Friend the Member for Clwyd, South (Mr. Jones) on 19 November 1997, Official Report, column 230. In addition, Regulations laid on 3 December 1997 will help new entrants to sheep and suckler cow farming to obtain quota from the national reserve.
