Question

What considerations underlay the conclusions of the Spongiform Encephalopathy Advisory Committee that unimportant amounts of infectivity would be found in (a) the liver, (b) the lung, (c) the kidney and (d) the peripheral nerves of the cows; and if he will comment on research findings available to the Committee on (a) the infectivity of animal tissue and (b) the species barrier between bovines and humans when it determined which tissue were considered acceptable for human consumption.
