Written question asked by Lord Alton of Liverpool (Crossbench) on Wednesday, 19 October 2011, in the House of Lords. It was answered by Earl Howe (Conservative) on Wednesday, 19 October 2011.

Question

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the Written Answers by Earl Howe on 3 October (WA 106), whether the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority now considers research licences R0152 and R0153 to be the same licence; and, if so, why they are still listed separately on the authority's website.

Answer

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) has advised that research licence R0153 expired on the 31 August 2011. Research licence R0152 continues to be active and now encompasses R0153's activities. The HFEA has also advised that the pages referred to by the noble Lord are expected to be refreshed in the near future.
