Question

asked Her Majesty's Government:What actions they have taken to encourage the design and production of electrical and electronic equipment which take into account and facilitate dismantling and recovery, as required by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive.

Answer

Article 4 of the directive is implemented through Regulation 59 of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2006 (SI 3289). The Government recognise the importance of design in the sustainability agenda and will be monitoring the position closely.
